2027 likely my final presidential bid – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the 2027 presidential election may be his last attempt to lead Nigeria, citing his age and the high stakes of the race.
Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023, made the remark during an interview on ARISE Television on Wednesday.
“Certainly yes, because the stakes are higher and I believe that will be my last outing,” he said when asked if turning 80 by 2027 would influence his decision.
The former vice president has made several bids for the presidency over the years, contesting elections in 2007, 2011, 2019, and 2023, but has yet to secure victory.
