Lecturers at the University of Jos have suspended their strike and resumed academic activities following the payment of March 2026 salaries.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNIJOS branch, confirmed the development in a statement signed by its Chairman, Prof. Jurbe Molwus.

The lecturers had earlier withdrawn their services on April 8 over delays in salary payments and the non-inclusion of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA).

“We have confirmed the payment of our salary for March 2026, as the majority of our members have received alerts,” Molwus said.

However, the union expressed concern that the Earned Academic Allowances were not included in the payment.

“The EAA component has still not been included in the payment of our salary,” he added.

ASUU called on the Federal Government to release funds for the full implementation of the 2025 agreement with the union to ensure industrial harmony.

The union directed its members to immediately resume lectures, conduct examinations, and attend statutory meetings.

It also warned that failure to address outstanding issues could trigger another strike.

“We hope the Federal Government will take proactive steps to prevent us from withdrawing our services again,” the statement said.
