Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communication, Sunday Dare, has dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to dominate the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Dare said there is no intention to exclude opposition parties from participating in the electoral process.

He was reacting to protests by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over actions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the party’s leadership disputes.

Dare noted that there are currently multiple registered political parties in Nigeria, all of which are free to operate and participate in elections.

He rejected claims that the APC-led Federal Government of Nigeria is attempting to shrink the political space, insisting that democratic freedoms remain intact.

According to him, the ability of opposition figures to protest openly is evidence that the government respects freedom of expression and political participation.

The presidential aide also accused opposition parties of internal mismanagement, arguing that their challenges are self-inflicted rather than caused by the ruling party.

He maintained that building a strong political party requires time, sacrifice, and organisation, adding that the APC is not responsible for the internal crises facing rival parties.
