Former Senate President David Mark has sought to calm tensions within the African Democratic Congress, assuring party members and Nigerians that the ongoing crisis does not threaten the party’s unity.

Speaking during a church service held to mark his 78th birthday, Mark described the internal disagreements as part of a natural evolution rather than a sign of division.

“On the issue of the ongoing developments within our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), I wish to assure our members and Nigerians at large that there is no cause for alarm,” he said.

He emphasized that challenges are inevitable in any growing institution but stressed the importance of collective resolve in overcoming them.

“We remain united, determined, and focused on strengthening the party and upholding democratic values,” Mark added.

The former Senate President also linked the party’s stability to the broader state of Nigeria’s democracy, reaffirming the ADC’s commitment to national development and democratic principles.

“We will continue to work tirelessly, guided by discipline, integrity, and patriotism, to ensure that our democratic institutions are preserved and that the dividends of democracy reach all our people,” he said.

Reflecting on his 78th birthday, Mark expressed gratitude and reiterated his continued commitment to national service, stating that his resolve to contribute to unity, peace, and progress remains strong.
