ADC Not a Threat in Kano, Party of Jokers, Gov Yusuf Declares, Backs Tinubu for 2027

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday dismissed the African Democratic Congress as a platform with no electoral future in the state, describing it as a party of “jokers” incapable of posing any serious political challenge ahead of future elections.

The governor spoke at the Government House, Kano, shortly after returning from the national convention of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja and the party’s North-West zonal congress held in Kaduna, where he addressed a large crowd of supporters who gathered to welcome him back.

Speaking in a confident tone, Yusuf said opposition parties, particularly ADC and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, lack the political strength to win elections in Kano.

According to him, “There was only one term in the NNPP, and we will go for a second term in the APC. As for the ADC they moved to, it will never secure even a single term.”

He further described the ADC and other opposition alliances as politically weak, insisting that no coalition against the ruling party would succeed in Kano.

“ADC, NNPP and any other parties are parties of jokers who could not make any meaningful political gains despite their groupings,” the governor declared, while urging residents not to be carried away by what he termed recent political excitement surrounding the opposition.

Yusuf also appealed to Kano residents to support his administration for another term, promising expanded delivery in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, as well as youth and women empowerment.

“You have seen our efforts in the last two to three years. If given another mandate, we will certainly do more,” he said.

On national politics, the governor openly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, saying the President has shown commitment to improving the nation’s economy and infrastructure.

“Mr President has been doing his best for this country. He has improved the economy and is ensuring infrastructure development across the zones within available resources. We in Kano are fully behind him and will support his re-election in 2027 by the grace of Allah,” Yusuf added.

He maintained that the APC remains the strongest political platform in Kano and across Nigeria, capable of winning elections at all levels.

Earlier, the governor received a warm reception on arrival at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, where supporters lined major roads including Katsina Road, Emir’s Palace Road and Sabon Bakin Zuwo Road, chanting party slogans as his convoy moved into the city .
