Grieving Jos mother urges slain son to avenge death in viral video

A grieving mother, Mrs Favour Ayuba, has sparked emotional reactions after a viral video showed her urging her late son, Promise, to avenge his death following the recent attack in Jos, Plateau State.
Promise was among those killed during the Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, where gunmen left at least 24 people dead and several others injured.
In the video, Mrs Ayuba, speaking in Hausa amid sobs, placed a cutlass wrapped in white cloth inside her son’s coffin, expressing deep anguish over his killing.
“If you want me to forget, baby, avenge your death… I carried you in my womb for nine months… please, wherever they are, follow them and avenge your death,” she said.
The bereaved mother, who earlier appeared in another viral clip clutching her son’s lifeless body, said she had not eaten since the day of the attack, describing her loss as unbearable.
She also referenced the biblical figure Gideon, expressing hope that her son would find justice.
The emotional scene highlights the deep pain and trauma experienced by families affected by the recurring violence in Plateau State, which has continued to raise concerns over security and the protection of lives and property.
