The Kwara State Fire Service and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration on fire safety and emergency preparedness across petroleum facilities in the state.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Hassan Adekunle, following a courtesy visit by the Director of the Service, Alabi Muhammed, to the IPMAN secretariat in Ilorin.

During the visit, Muhammed congratulated the association’s leadership, led by Chairman Kabiru Zubair, and commended IPMAN’s role in promoting safety standards within the petroleum sector.

He stressed the importance of strict compliance with fire safety regulations, urging the association to intensify sensitisation efforts among members, particularly in fire prevention, safe fuel handling, and emergency response.

“I urge the new leadership to sensitise your members on strict compliance with fire safety regulations and prioritise regular training of staff on fire prevention and emergency response,” he said.

In response, Zubair appreciated the visit and pledged continued adherence to safety standards, assuring that IPMAN would sustain collaboration with the Fire Service to protect lives and critical infrastructure.

The Fire Service reiterated its commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and expanding public awareness campaigns aimed at preventing fire incidents across all sectors in Kwara State.
