The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday led top security officials on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State.

The visit, according to a statement by Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, is part of ongoing efforts to restore calm and ensure lasting peace in the state.

Upon arrival, the army chief was received by the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, underscoring what officials described as strong civil-military cooperation in addressing security challenges.

During the visit, the COAS received a detailed operational briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Folusho Oyinlola.

The briefing highlighted ongoing operations and proactive measures being implemented in collaboration with other security agencies to contain threats, protect lives and property, and stabilise affected communities.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also engaged with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens.

He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by complying with curfew directives and cooperating with ongoing operations and investigations.

In his remarks, Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Dachung Bagos, commended the army chief for the timely visit, noting that it would boost public confidence and strengthen trust in ongoing security efforts.
