Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to further expand its security zone in southern Lebanon, as operations against Hezbollah continue.

Netanyahu made this known in a video statement on Sunday during a visit to Israel’s northern command.

“In Lebanon, I have just ordered the military to further expand the existing security zone,” he said, adding that the move is aimed at neutralising threats from Hezbollah and preventing attacks along the border.

According to him, the expansion is intended to reduce the risk of infiltration and keep anti-tank missile fire away from Israeli territory.

The Prime Minister noted that while Hezbollah still retains some capacity to launch attacks, the group has been significantly weakened by ongoing military operations.

“Hezbollah still has residual capabilities, but it has been severely hit,” he said.

Netanyahu also claimed that other regional adversaries, including Iran and Hamas, have been weakened.

“Iran is no longer the same Iran, Hezbollah is no longer the same Hezbollah, and Hamas is no longer the same Hamas,” he stated.

He maintained that Israel remains resolute in its military campaign, expressing confidence in the country’s position.

“We are determined, we are fighting, and we are winning,” Netanyahu said.

The development comes amid continued tensions along Israel’s northern border, raising concerns over the potential for further escalation in the region.
