Protesters demand answers from ADC over alleged N100m election spending
Protesters on Thursday stormed the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Abuja, demanding clarification over allegations that N100 million was disbursed in connection with the recent Federal Capital Territory election.
The demonstrators said their action was driven by public interest, stressing that they were seeking transparency rather than making accusations.
Convener of Advocate for Women in Governance, Amaka Christian, told journalists that the group wanted the party to clearly confirm or deny the allegation.
She noted that their next steps would depend on the response provided by the party’s leadership.
Responding on behalf of the ADC, Deputy National Publicity Secretary for New Media, Queen Okiyi, described the claim as a rumour and urged the public to remain calm.
She also cautioned against statements that could create division within the party, emphasizing the need for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party assured that it would provide necessary clarification on the matter.
