Kwara Govt lauds rescue of abducted church worshippers, orders manhunt for Omugo attackers
The Kwara State Government has commended security operatives, forest guards and local vigilantes for rescuing three persons abducted during an attack on ECWA Church Omugo in Ifelodun Local Government Area, while directing security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those behind the incident.
The government also charged security forces and community-based security groups to sustain the ongoing manhunt aimed at rescuing the remaining victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Bolanle Olukoju, the government condemned the attack, describing the targeting of a place of worship as unacceptable and criminal.
According to the statement, three out of the eight persons abducted during the attack have so far regained freedom following the swift intervention of security personnel and local vigilantes.
The statement read: “While commending the immediate response of the security forces and other stakeholders, we task them to ensure that the ongoing manhunt leads to the rescue of the remaining victims and arrest of the perpetrators.”
The government further praised the efforts of security operatives and forest guards in combing nearby forests, noting that their sustained operations have significantly curtailed criminal activities in the affected communities.
It reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies and community stakeholders to safeguard lives and property across the state.
