The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has distanced himself from claims linking him to the N500 million Ikeji–Arakeji road project, describing the allegations as false, misleading and politically motivated.

Speaking through his Senior Media Aide, Omolebi-Segun Tunde, Oke said the project was sponsored by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and not by him. “Contrary to assertions being circulated, the Ikeji–Arakeji road project is sponsored by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, not Hon. Wole Oke. Any insinuation that Hon. Oke appropriated or influenced the project is entirely false and misleading,” Tunde stated.

The lawmaker also dismissed documents allegedly linking him to the project as fabricated, insisting that signatures attributed to him were forged. He maintained that those behind the circulation of such documents acted with the intent to misinform the public and tarnish his reputation.

According to the statement, the processes guiding public procurement, including bidding, award and execution of projects, are clearly defined under existing laws and do not support the narrative being promoted against the federal lawmaker.

Oke further disclosed that a criminal complaint would be lodged with relevant law enforcement agencies over the alleged forgery and misinformation, adding that legal steps were already being taken to correct what he described as deliberate falsehood.

He warned that political disagreements should not degenerate into character assassination, stressing that a petition would also be filed against the legal practitioner involved for alleged professional misconduct.

The Ikeji–Arakeji road project has recently generated public debate following claims regarding its sponsorship and execution. However, Oke insisted he had no involvement in the project and reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and due process in public service.
