Police Nab Three Suspects, Recover Guns, Drugs in Enugu Raids

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested three male suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition and hard drugs during separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests followed coordinated raids by the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad targeting suspected criminal elements.

He disclosed that on January 19, operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended two suspects — Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35 — at the Awkunanaw area of Enugu South Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations, he said, revealed that the suspects are members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba allegedly identified as the leader and executioner of the group in Enugu South as of December 2025.

Items recovered from them include a pump-action gun, a locally fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large quantity of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, one HP laptop and a motorcycle.

Ndukwe further stated that in a related operation carried out on January 31, police operatives raided suspected criminal hideouts around the Agbani axis, leading to the arrest of eight additional suspects.

“After screening, one of the suspects, Monday Ezeani, 32, was found in possession of dried weeds suspected to be cannabis and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as mkpuru-mmiri,” he said, adding that others were released after preliminary investigation cleared them of wrongdoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Mamman Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, warning that individuals involved in cultism, armed robbery and drug-related crimes would be decisively dealt with under the law.
