The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, has fixed Friday, March 6, 2026, for the resumption of its pioneer students.

The announcement followed the university’s inaugural statutory Senate meeting held on Wednesday, February 4, where the academic roadmap for the first cohort was approved.

In a statement on Friday, the Registrar and Secretary to the University Senate, Amuni Mohammed Olayinka, confirmed that the decision was based on comprehensive reports assessing the institution’s readiness.

Olayinka stated,

“The University Senate, at its inaugural statutory meeting, reviewed reports from the University Management and Committee of Deans and Directors on the preparedness of the university for students’ resumption. Based on these, far-reaching decisions were taken to ensure a smooth resumption and the welfare of students.”

According to the statement, the 2025/2026 academic calendar has been designed to align the new university within the national academic cycle. Registration will run from March 6 to March 10, followed by an orientation programme from March 11 to 19. Formal lectures are set to commence Monday, March 23, while the landmark matriculation ceremony will take place Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The first semester will conclude in July, with a short break before the second semester begins August 3, 2026, and the session is expected to end by November 30. The next session is tentatively slated to start December 14, 2026.

On accommodation, the university said it had partnered with private developers to provide secure and affordable hostel facilities within the host communities.

Olayinka also urged prospective students yet to finalize their choice of university to take advantage of the ongoing JAMB portal options for a change of institution.

Established in 2025, FUNATO is now set to matriculate its first batch of students. The pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olaniyi Babayemi, described the institution’s mission as producing graduates who are academically excellent, entrepreneurially inclined, and technologically equipped to tackle 21st-century challenges.

The university management encouraged students to complete registration promptly to avoid last-minute technical issues.
