Nigeria has again signalled its firm diplomatic and humanitarian stance on the Gaza crisis as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, held a strategic meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Muhannad Halmouri, in Abuja.

The high-level engagement, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on deepening Nigeria–Palestine relations and addressing urgent humanitarian and security concerns arising from the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

According to a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the talks formed part of continuing diplomatic consultations designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and review consular and regional matters of shared interest.

During the meeting, the Palestinian envoy expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s longstanding support for Palestinian sovereignty and updated the minister on the dire humanitarian realities in Gaza, including security threats and severe limitations affecting the delivery of relief materials to affected populations.

He praised Nigeria’s consistent advocacy for peaceful resolution of the conflict through lawful and ethical international frameworks.

Halmouri also disclosed plans for a possible visit to Nigeria by the Palestinian foreign minister, noting that the proposed trip would feature top-level diplomatic engagements and interface with the National Assembly in line with established diplomatic procedures.

Reaffirming Nigeria’s position, Tuggar stressed the country’s commitment to justice, peaceful coexistence, and respect for international law, assuring that all issues raised would receive due diplomatic attention through appropriate channels.

The meeting highlights Nigeria’s renewed diplomatic push and its continuing voice in international efforts toward peace and humanitarian protection in conflict zones.
