Kano State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, has stated that there is nothing wrong with voluntarily aligning under a single political party, provided it reflects a convergence of ideology and a shared commitment to delivering meaningful change.

Waiya made this remark on Tuesday during an interview with Arise Television, monitored by Patriotic Insights News

He said, “There is nothing wrong with people voluntarily aligning under one party if it reflects a convergence of ideology and a shared commitment to deliver real change and transformation for the country. A lot of people have been insinuating that we are tilting towards a one-party system. That is not the case. Look at the United States: despite the advancement of democracy there, they have only two major parties – the Republicans and the Democrats – and people voluntarily align with either. There is nothing wrong about that.

“What matters most is a convergence of ideology, shared beliefs, and the willingness to work together. Why must there be numerous political parties that lack representation across the 36 states? Many do not even have national secretariats. If we truly care about providing services to the people, convergence under a single party is practical.

“The key is for each person to bring to the table what they can offer. If an opportunity arises and someone is elected, I will support them fully while waiting for my own turn. There is nothing wrong with this approach, and it should not be blamed on the administration of President Bola Tinubu.”
