Military assures Kaduna community of safe rescue of Kurmin Wali abductees

The Military High Command has reassured residents of Kurmin Wali community in Kaduna State that all abducted victims will be safely rescued and reunited with their families, as security operations continue across the area.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) urged Nigerians, particularly displaced residents of the affected community, to remain calm and patient, assuring that efforts to secure the release of the victims remain a top priority.

In a statement on Sunday, the Director of Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said the military, in collaboration with other security agencies, was carrying out sustained and intelligence-driven operations in the forests and surrounding locations believed to be hideouts of the kidnappers.

According to him, claims of a diminished or slow response by the military were inaccurate, stressing that operations were ongoing and carefully coordinated to ensure the safety of the captives.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain unwavering in their mandate to protect lives and property and are steadfastly committed to reuniting the kidnapped victims of Kurmin Wali with their families,” Onoja said.

He explained that the operations involve a combination of ground patrols, surveillance, intelligence gathering and targeted actions designed to dismantle the criminal networks behind the abductions without endangering the victims.

The military spokesman acknowledged the anxiety and distress being experienced by families of the abducted persons, noting that what may be perceived as operational restraint was, in some cases, a deliberate strategy aimed at preventing harm to the captives.

Onoja added that while certain operational details could not be disclosed for security reasons, substantial efforts were underway to ensure a successful outcome.

He appealed for sustained public support, cooperation and understanding as the operations progress towards the safe rescue and reintegration of all abducted victims.
