Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called on the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) to abandon hostilities, accept forgiveness and comply with the judgment of the Federal High Court recognising the Nenadi Usman-led leadership of the party.

Otti said members of the Abure faction would be forgiven and reintegrated if they renounced actions capable of undermining the party and chose to operate within the bounds of the law.

The governor, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, described the court ruling as sound and consistent with democratic principles.

He expressed gratitude to what he termed “lovers of democracy” for standing by the Labour Party during what he described as a turbulent period in the party’s history.

Otti urged individuals responsible for what he called “frivolous litigations” against the party to sheathe their swords and respect the judgment, noting that it aligns with an earlier decision of the Supreme Court.

He further charged the national leadership of the Labour Party to see the court victory as an opportunity to reposition and strengthen the party by promoting peace, unity and justice in line with its constitution and founding ideals.
