Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has called on Nigerians to acknowledge and support the efforts of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the ongoing construction of the Apo–Karshi Road in Abuja.

The Apo–Karshi Road, a critical link between parts of the FCT and neighbouring Nasarawa State, is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve access for thousands of commuters upon completion.

Adeyanju, who has been a long-time critic of Wike, said the renewed pace and quality of work on the road deserved public commendation, noting that the project had suffered years of delays and slow progress under previous administrations.

Speaking in a statement on Wednesday, Adeyanju described the current level of work on the road as remarkable.

“Even as a consistent critic of Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, I must sincerely commend him for the remarkable speed and level of work currently ongoing on the Apo–Karshi Road,” he said.

He recalled that the road had remained under construction for several years with little visible advancement, adding that the recent progress marked a clear departure from the past.

“That road has been under construction for years with minimal progress. What we are seeing now is visible and commendable. Credit should be given where it is due,” Adeyanju added.

The Apo–Karshi Road project is considered one of the major infrastructure interventions aimed at improving connectivity between Abuja and surrounding states, as well as reducing travel time for residents of satellite towns.

Adeyanju urged Nigerians to rise above political sentiments and support initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to the people, stressing that effective governance should always be encouraged, regardless of political differences.
