Alleged APC crisis: Kwara ADC denies sponsorship by Gov AbdulRazaq

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State has denied claims that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is sponsoring the party, describing the allegation as baseless and politically motivated.
The denial followed accusations by a socio-political group, Kwara North Development Commission (KNDC), which alleged that the governor was secretly funding the ADC as part of an anti-party plot against the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting, a chieftain of the ADC in the state and former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan, Professor Isa Gana, said there was no truth in the allegation, stressing that the party operates independently of the state government.
Gana said he was unaware of the existence of any recognised body known as the Kwara North Development Commission making such claims against the ADC.
He questioned the rationale behind the accusation, asking why an APC governor would fund an opposition party seeking to dislodge his administration.
“It is a lie. There is nothing of such. ADC is working round the clock to provide an alternative leadership in Kwara State ahead of 2027. We are not part of any arrangement with Governor AbdulRazaq or the APC,” Gana said.
He urged those behind the allegation to stop spreading misinformation capable of misleading the public and heating up the polity unnecessarily.
Recall that the KNDC, in a statement signed by its President, Abdullahi Mansuma, and Publicity Secretary, Zainabu Seko, accused the governor of actions capable of bringing the APC into disrepute.
The group alleged that Governor AbdulRazaq was funding and propping up the ADC in Kwara State through proxies, describing the alleged move as a political betrayal.
It said it raised the issue in the interest of transparency, insisting that the people of Kwara State deserve to know the truth.
