AFCON 2025: Senegal, Morocco Book Quarter-final Showdowns

 

Two quarter-final fixtures have been confirmed at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following the conclusion of the Round of 16 matches played over the weekend.

Senegal will face Mali in the first quarter-final encounter scheduled for Friday, January 9, at 5:00pm local time. The Teranga Lions advanced in emphatic fashion, coming from behind to defeat Sudan 3–1, while Mali edged Tunisia via penalties after a 1–1 draw at the end of extra time.

In the second quarter-final on the same day, hosts Morocco will lock horns with Cameroon by 8:00pm. The Atlas Lions secured their place with a narrow 1–0 victory over Tanzania, while Cameroon overcame South Africa 2–1 in a closely contested tie.

The remaining two quarter-final matches of the tournament are slated for Monday and Tuesday, as the race for continental glory intensifies.
