Fadeyi Urges Nigerians to Stay Hopeful, Back Reforms in 2026

As Nigerians usher in the New Year, the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Olubiyi Abdulazeez Fadeyi, has urged citizens to remain optimistic and steadfast despite the nation’s economic and social challenges.

In his New Year message for 2026, released on Thursday through his Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity, Bashorun Adekanola Desmond, the lawmaker expressed confidence that Nigeria’s current difficulties would not derail God’s divine purpose for the country and its people.

Senator Fadeyi cautioned Nigerians against what he described as “doom-laden proclamations” by self-styled religious merchants, urging citizens to embrace faith, hope, and positive action in the year ahead.

According to him, 2026 should not be approached with fear or pessimism, noting that Nigeria’s future remains bright despite prevailing economic, political, and social pressures.

“God’s plan for Nigeria is not one of despair or destruction, but of peace, prosperity, and a hopeful future, as clearly stated in the Scriptures. His purpose will surely come to pass if we remain resolute in faith,” the Senator said.

The lawmaker, who bears the traditional title Ajagunnla-Oodua ti Ile Yoruba, called on Nigerians not to lose heart over challenges confronting the nation, stressing that citizens have a responsibility to contribute positively to national renewal.

He urged Nigerians to continue praying for those in leadership and to support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that sustained faith and unity are critical to national progress.

“An excessive focus on present economic challenges can blind us to the greater future God has prepared for us. If we cannot envision that future, we may struggle to walk confidently towards it,” he stated.

Senator Fadeyi also pointed to emerging signs of economic recovery, attributing them to ongoing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.

He therefore appealed for continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as it implements policies targeted at strengthening the economy, improving infrastructure, expanding opportunities, and securing long-term prosperity for Nigerians.

Emphasising unity as Nigeria’s greatest strength, the Senator called for dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect among citizens, regardless of differences in opinion, ethnicity, or belief.

“Our diversity should be seen not as a weakness, but as a strength. When harnessed through cooperation, it becomes a powerful tool for overcoming challenges and building a more inclusive and forward-looking nation,” he said.

Senator Fadeyi concluded by wishing Nigerians peace, good health, progress, and renewed optimism in the New Year.
