BREAKING: Fayose Alleges Makinde Diverted N50bn From Federal Govt, Releases Documents

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of diverting N50 billion received from the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, releasing documents he claims substantiate his allegations.
Fayose stated that the funds were approved as emergency support following the deadly Ibadan explosion in January 2024. According to him, only N4.5 billion of the money was disbursed to victims, while the balance, he alleged, was allegedly diverted to fund Makinde’s purported presidential ambitions.
The former governor insisted that the documents he made public would allow Nigerians to judge the truthfulness of Makinde’s administration. He further challenged the Oyo State governor to take legal action against him, asserting that additional records exist showing undisclosed federal support sent to the state.
Fayose also claimed to have evidence of the actual Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Oyo State, which, he said, differs from figures publicly announced by Governor Makinde.
In a statement personally signed, Fayose said:
“Meanwhile, only N4.5bn was released to victims of the Ibadan Explosion. Rather, he diverted this fund and many others to his Presidential ambition, which is the reason for the crisis in the PDP and his attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his government.
“Also, there are documentary evidences on the actual Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Oyo State, as against Governor Makinde’s claim, but we will keep our gunpowder dry for now. My name is still Ayo Fayose, I don’t say what I can’t prove.”
Governor Makinde had previously denied Fayose’s claims and demanded proof, a challenge which Fayose now says he has answered with the release of the documents.
