Christmas: Fadeyi urges Nigerians to embrace unity, religious tolerance
Distinguished Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, has called on Nigerians to strengthen unity and religious tolerance as Christians celebrate Christmas.
In a Christmas message released on Thursday, the lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District urged Christians to use the season to reflect on the core teachings of Jesus Christ, particularly love, sacrifice, peace and compassion, which he described as essential values for peaceful coexistence and national development.
Senator Fadeyi noted that Christmas provides an opportunity for Nigerians, irrespective of religion or ethnicity, to renew their commitment to unity and mutual respect, stressing that these virtues remain critical to building a safer and more prosperous country.
He further emphasized the need for sustained collaboration among Christians, Muslims and adherents of other faiths, saying religious tolerance is a foundation for stability, growth and progress in Nigeria.
According to him, fostering harmony among citizens would help address the nation’s challenges and promote collective advancement.
Reacting to the message, the Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity to the senator, Bashorun Adekanola Desmond, said the lawmaker’s goodwill message reflects his long-standing commitment to unity and inclusive leadership.
“Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi believes that Nigeria can only move forward when citizens see one another as partners in progress, not divided by religion or ethnicity,” Desmond said.
The senator wished Christians in Osun State and across the country a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, filled with peace, joy and renewed hope for a better Nigeria.
