Tinubu immortalises Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi with varsity renaming

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Azare, Bauchi State, in honour of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The institution will now be known as Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University, the President announced on Saturday during a condolence visit to the Bauchi State Government and the family of the revered cleric.
Tinubu described the late Sheikh as a man of deep faith, compassion and service to humanity, noting that his teachings and exemplary life left enduring lessons for the nation.
“From today, the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Azare, will be renamed Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University to immortalise his contributions,” the President said.
He urged Nigerians to uphold the values of peace, unity and devotion exemplified by the cleric, stressing the need for prayers for national stability, economic growth and collective prosperity.
“We came from Almighty Allah and to Him we shall all return. The best honour we can give him is to live by the values he stood for,” Tinubu added, praying for the repose of the Sheikh’s soul.
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, commended the President for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of profound respect for the late cleric, his family and the people of the state.
He said Tinubu’s decision to personally visit Bauchi, after earlier delegating Vice-President Kashim Shettima to attend the burial rites, underscored the President’s deep regard for Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Bashir Sheikh Dahiru-Bauchi expressed gratitude to the President for the honour accorded the late Islamic leader and for standing with the family during their moment of grief.
After the condolence visit, the President departed Bauchi for Lagos via the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport.
