Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has disclosed that she has been approached by individuals within the Presidency to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmaker made the revelation on Saturday during an interview on Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, however, dismissed the overtures, insisting that she has no intention of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where she says she enjoys peace and political stability.

She recalled facing similar pressures in the past, including suggestions that she should contest elections in Delta State following her marriage, but said she has remained steadfast in her convictions.

“At different times, I have faced challenges that required me to brace myself. Politics can be tough, especially for women, but the strength is within you,” she said.

The senator revealed that she was once a member of the APC at the early stage of her political journey but has since moved on.

“I was in the APC briefly at the start of everything, but not anymore. Why should I return to the APC? I don’t have to follow the bandwagon or succumb to threats or cajolement,” she said.

According to her, the pressure to defect has been persistent.

“To be honest, I’ve been approached by people from the Presidency, and even by some of my colleagues, as recently as yesterday,” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.

She added that her current political environment suits her.

“I love my space. I love my peace. I’m comfortable where I am now, and I don’t see any reason to join the APC,” she said.
