Salam Emerges ADC Governorship Candidate in Osun

Rt. Hon. Najeem Salam, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, has reportedly clinched the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 election.

According to insider sources, Salam secured the party’s nomination after defeating two prominent contenders — former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, and former Osun West Senator, Engr. Adelere Oriolowo — in a keenly contested primary conducted by the party’s Apex Committee.

The committee, which comprises top-ranking stakeholders across the state’s three senatorial districts, was said to have adopted a selective delegates’ voting process to determine the party’s flagbearer.

At the end of the exercise, Salam garnered 11 votes to emerge winner, while Adeoti received 3 votes and Oriolowo managed 1 vote.

Party insiders described the process as “peaceful and transparent,” noting that the committee aimed to avoid prolonged internal disputes ahead of the general election.

Although the ADC leadership has yet to issue an official statement confirming the outcome, supporters of the former Speaker have already begun celebrating what they described as “a strategic choice” aimed at boosting the party’s chances in 2026.

With the primary concluded, the ADC is expected to formally unveil Salam as its candidate in the coming days.
