Senator Fadeyi Revitalises OAU’s Iconic Faculty of Science Building

In a remarkable show of alumni loyalty and commitment to education, Senator Ajagunnla Olubiyi Fadeyi has successfully renovated the renowned White Building, popularly known as the Faculty of Science at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
In a statement made available by his Special Adviser on Digital Media,Bashorun Adekanola, the Senator expressed his delight in giving back to his alma mater. “The White Building is not just a structure; it represents decades of learning and innovation. Renovating it is my way of contributing to a supportive environment where students and faculty can thrive,” the statement said.
The White Building, a key landmark of the university’s campus, is celebrated for its grand assembly hall and distinctive architectural design. Constructed between 1972 and 1976 at a cost of 1 million pounds, the building first underwent renovation in 1988 under the then-PTF. The recent project by Senator Fadeyi has revitalized the three massive White House structures within the Faculty of Science, enhancing their functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The building now features a modernized main hall and an adjoining amphitheater, where sleek white organic forms contrast beautifully with darker concrete elements. The renovation underscores Senator Fadeyi’s commitment to supporting his alma mater and improving the learning environment for students and faculty alike.
A graduate of OAU, Senator Fadeyi furthered his education with an LL.M in International Business Law from the University of Cumbria, UK. He also attended prestigious Ivy League institutions in the United States, specializing in Business Management, International Relations, PPP Risk Analysis, and Political Economy. His academic pursuits include Senior Executive courses in International Relations and Political Economy at the London School of Economics (LSE) and specialized executive programs at Harvard University in Boston, where he studied National and International Security, Negotiation, and Competitive Advantage Through Social Impact.
The White Building renovation reflects Senator Fadeyi’s dedication to public service and philanthropy, emphasizing the value of giving back to society and uplifting educational standards.
During his visit to the university, Senator Fadeyi was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire; Registrar, Mr. K. Bakare; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Oluropo Akinfala; Chairman, Committee of Deans, Professor Olufemi Adeyinka Adesina; Chairman, Ceremonial Committee, Professor Solomon Adekola; and Protocol Officer, Mr. B. Olaniran. University officials lauded the Senator for his generous contributions and commitment to advancing education.
