The incident was disclosed on Wednesday by Ester Umoh, a media aide to the NDC flagbearer, in a social media post.
Raising the alarm over the development, Umoh wrote, “Thugs are trying to attack our convoy.”
The reported attack occurred shortly after Obi arrived in Calabar alongside his wife, Margaret, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for a town hall meeting.
The incident comes barely two months after Obi’s convoy reportedly faced a similar disruption in Benue State, where suspected thugs blocked Boko Road near the Air Force Base in an attempt to prevent the former Anambra State governor from entering the state.
Further details of the reported Calabar incident were not immediately available.
