Osun APC Unveils 168-Man Campaign Council For Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a 168-member presidential and parliamentary campaign council to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The council, announced in a statement signed by the state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, is expected to strengthen the party’s chances at the polls.

Lawal said the members were carefully selected from the party’s leadership and ranks in the state to ensure victory for Tinubu and its National and State Assembly candidates.

The APC’s governorship candidate in the August 8 election, Bola Oyebamiji, will serve as Director-General of the council, while Lawal is the Deputy Director-General.

Oyebamiji’s running mate, Benjamin Adereti, and Kehinde Olamolu were named Assistant Directors-General 1 and 2, respectively.

The council also includes the party’s three senatorial candidates and nine House of Representatives candidates.

Other prominent members are former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Foluke Etteh; former deputy governors Adeleke Adewoyin, Iyiola Omisore, Titi Laoye-Ponnle and Adegboyega Alabi; retired General Alani Akinrinade; Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode; and the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi.

The statement said the decision to establish the council followed the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14, 2026, by Tinubu, and the subsequent inauguration of the Osun State council by Governor Ademola Adeleke on October 22.

It added that the new council would work alongside the existing structure to secure massive votes for the President and other APC candidates.

The development comes amid controversy surrounding Adeleke’s appointment as coordinator of Tinubu’s presidential campaign council in Osun.

At the October 22 inauguration, several party chieftains, including APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru; former governor, Bisi Akande; and former deputy governors Iyiola Omisore and Titi Laoye-Ponnle, were present.

However, former governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Oyebamiji; Lawal; and other prominent party figures were absent.

Lawal subsequently complained that the state party leadership had not been consulted before the composition of the campaign council.

Adeleke, while speaking at the inauguration, said he would support Tinubu’s re-election but ruled out backing APC candidates contesting legislative seats in the state.

Meanwhile, political mobilisation for the 2027 elections has continued to gather momentum in Osun.

Oyetola recently called for unity among political interests in the state and urged APC members to intensify grassroots mobilisation. He expressed confidence that Tinubu could secure 1.5 million votes in Osun.
