Osun PDP, Accord Stakeholders Endorse Adeleke as Tinubu Campaign Coordinator

Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party in Osun State have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appointment as the state coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

The stakeholders, comprising leaders of both parties across the state, also reaffirmed that their partnership with the All Progressives Congress (APC) is limited to the 2027 presidential election.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the coalition partners agreed to campaign separately for their respective legislative candidates, with Adeleke pledging to lead campaigns for Accord candidates contesting Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats.

The meeting also called for an immediate resolution of the ongoing local government crisis in Osun State, saying it was necessary to ease hardship at the grassroots and strengthen mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

While welcoming Adeleke’s appointment as campaign coordinator, the stakeholders appealed to Tinubu to support the governor by facilitating a lasting resolution of the local government dispute.

The meeting was attended by the PDP state chairman, Sunday Bisi, and the Accord state chairman, Victor Akande, alongside government officials, lawmakers, legislative candidates and party leaders from the state’s 30 local government areas.

Adeleke had earlier briefed the stakeholders on his appointment and efforts to resolve the local government crisis.

The governor expressed appreciation to Tinubu for recognising his leadership in Osun, adding that steps had been taken to address challenges that could affect the campaign for the president’s re-election.

He assured residents that the local government crisis was nearing resolution and that grassroots governance would be restored.

“I want to assure Osun people that the local government crisis is about to be resolved. We should expect the good news,” Adeleke said.

“Mr President is committed to finding lasting solutions. We are not abandoning the grassroots. We recognise that resolution is critical for our electoral preparations.”

On the political alliance, Adeleke insisted that the arrangement with the APC would not affect the chances of Accord candidates in next year’s legislative elections.

“Our deal is for the re-election of President Tinubu at the presidential elections. Each coalition partner is to campaign for their legislative candidates. As for me, I will campaign for Accord candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly,” he said.

He added, “I would never trade away Accord candidates in next year’s legislative elections.”

The governor’s position reinforces the distinction between the presidential alliance and the separate electoral ambitions of the coalition partners ahead of the 2027 general elections.
