The directive was contained in a statement issued by the State Head of Service and Chairman of the newly constituted Osun State Environmental Sanitation Task Force, Samuel Ayanleye Aina.
According to the statement, the exercise will hold every Thursday from 8am to 10am, with office workers, market operators, shop owners, artisans, shopping malls, stores and other business premises expected to participate.
The statement said law enforcement agents would be deployed to ensure compliance with the directive but would not arrest anyone during the exercise.
It explained that the initiative was aimed at tackling indiscriminate refuse disposal in unauthorised places and enforcing other environmental regulations across the state.
The government said the exercise was also intended to prevent disease outbreaks and promote cleanliness in communities across Osun.
Aina urged residents and business operators to cooperate with the task force and comply with the two-hour sanitation exercise.
He reiterated that the exercise would run from 8am to 10am every Thursday across the state.
