Adeleke’s name appeared on the expanded presidential campaign council list released on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The appointment is attracting attention because Adeleke belongs to the Accord Party, while the APC has an established political structure in Osun State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Reacting to the development, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) described the appointment as well deserved, saying it reflected the confidence Tinubu had in Adeleke’s ability to mobilise electoral support for his re-election bid.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, the council welcomed Adeleke’s appointment as the Osun State coordinator of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council.
“The appointment is a well-deserved one. We assure the President that his confidence in the ability of Governor Adeleke to deliver Osun in the presidential election will not be misplaced,” the statement said.
The council also pledged to work towards Tinubu’s victory in the forthcoming presidential election, expressing confidence that Adeleke would mobilise substantial support for the President across the state.
It recalled the governor’s earlier pledge to deliver 1.5 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“We promise the President, just like Governor Adeleke had said some time ago, that we will deliver 1.5 million votes to ensure his victory in the coming presidential election,” the council stated.
The TICC further declared that Accord Party structures across Osun would be deployed to support Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The development comes amid preparations by political parties for the 2027 general election, with Osun expected to be a major political battleground.
Adeleke’s emergence as the presidential campaign coordinator raises questions about how the arrangement will work alongside the existing APC leadership structure in the state and the role party chieftains will play in Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
However, the political implications of the appointment remain to be seen, particularly as the APC, Accord Party and African Democratic Congress (ADC) position themselves for the forthcoming electoral contest.
