Makinde’s Government Hit by Fresh Resignation as Chief of Staff Quits

The Oyo State Government has suffered another high-profile resignation following the decision of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, to quit his appointment.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his decision took immediate effect.
His departure comes amid a wave of resignations by several aides of the governor in the last two months, raising fresh attention to developments within the state government.
In the resignation letter, Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in government as an honour and a fulfilling experience.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he stated.
The former Chief of Staff said he remained proud of the administration’s contributions to the growth and development of the state, expressing confidence in its continued progress.
He also reaffirmed his respect for the governor and his commitment to the interests of Oyo State and Nigeria.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ogunwuyi added.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, had served as a key member of Makinde’s administration.
His resignation marks another significant departure from the governor’s team, although no reason was stated in the resignation letter.
