The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja.
Oyedele said the initiative would provide some relief to Nigerians, particularly commuters, adding that public transport operators would be given priority under the arrangement.
According to him, “There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters.”
The minister also disclosed that the Federal Government had negotiated a new landing cost for petrol, which would be reviewed monthly.
He said the measures were part of the government’s efforts to cushion the impact of fuel costs on Nigerians and address transportation-related pressures.
Further details on the exact amount of the discount, the new petrol price and implementation guidelines are expected to be released by the Federal Government.
