Eldense announced the development in an official statement on X on Thursday, saying Messi had completed the acquisition and would oversee the club’s next phase.
The move adds Eldense to Messi’s growing football investment portfolio. The former Barcelona and Argentina captain previously became an owner of UE Cornellà.
Messi’s arrival is expected to attract increased international attention to Eldense as the club seeks to strengthen its sporting, institutional and commercial ambitions.
In its statement, the club said the acquisition marked the beginning of a new chapter in its more than 100-year history.
“CD Eldense officially announces the acquisition of the club by Leo Messi, marking the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the institution’s more than 100-year history,” the club said.
It added that Messi’s ownership would support a long-term project focused on the sporting, institutional and social development of the club.
Founded in 1921, CD Eldense said it aims to consolidate its position and grow in professional football while preserving its history and blue-and-red identity.
However, the transaction remains subject to the required authorisation from Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD) under the country’s Sports Law.
