Tinubu Congratulates Nigerian Filmmakers on Guinness World Record

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on achieving the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.

 

The record was achieved on September 26, 2026, during a screening of Black Market in Lagos.

 

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition.

 

The President described the achievement as further evidence of the talent driving Nigeria’s creative industry.

 

The statement partly read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on achieving the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.”

 

Tinubu also linked the achievement to the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy, saying the sector was creating opportunities for Nigerian talent and taking the country’s culture to audiences around the world.

 

The statement added, “The President says Nigeria’s creative economy is building businesses, creating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talent, while film, music, fashion and art carry the country’s stories and culture to audiences worldwide.”

 

He said the success of Black Market demonstrated what could be achieved when Nigerian creativity was combined with enterprise and scale.

 

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses from their talents.

 

The President also commended everyone involved in the production and screening of Black Market and wished the team greater success.
