Adeleke Visits Wike After Meeting Tinubu in Abuja

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as part of his consultations in Abuja following his recent re-election.

A photograph of the meeting shared on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, showed Adeleke and Wike shaking hands while holding the governor’s certificate of return.

Olayinka captioned the photograph, “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”

The visit came hours after Adeleke held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

Adeleke arrived at the Villa around 5:20 p.m., accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several Osun State officials, including his campaign Director-General and Chief of Staff.

During the meeting, Adeleke presented his certificate of return and expressed appreciation for the conduct of the August 15 governorship election.

The governor, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing 511,067 votes.

He defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas.

Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting Tinubu, Adeleke commended the President for allowing the electoral process to run its course without interference.

He described the visit as an opportunity to thank Tinubu, whom he referred to as the “father of the nation”, for respecting the democratic process.

“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy.

“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result. That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” Adeleke said.
