Osun Victory: ‘Oyetola Came With Arrogance, Power — But God Put Him To Shame’ — Deji Adeleke

Dr Deji Adeleke, elder brother of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has attributed his brother’s victory in the August 15 governorship election to divine intervention, saying he remained confident throughout the campaign that the governor would emerge victorious.

Adeleke, a businessman, spoke at a post-election victory gathering organised to celebrate the governor’s re-election.

He disclosed that he prayed daily for God to protect the governor, preserve his life and prevent him from being put to shame because of his faith.

According to him, he repeatedly prayed that God would intervene in the election and defeat those who opposed his brother, regardless of their political influence, resources and connections.

Deji specifically accused former Governor Gboyega Oyetola of approaching the election with what he described as “arrogance and wickedness,” while relying on his perceived connection to the Presidency.

He, however, said he had remained convinced that Adeleke would prevail through what he described as the power of God.

Deji explained that he repeated his prayer for his brother’s victory seven times daily, and three times a day on days he observed fasting.

He said the prayers were conducted privately and that he deliberately kept them away from public attention.

The businessman added that his confidence throughout the election period stemmed from his belief that God would answer his prayers.

He urged supporters of the governor to continue celebrating the victory while giving thanks to God for what he described as a divine mandate.

The governor’s victory has further reshaped the political landscape in Osun, with attention now shifting to governance, reconciliation and the expectations of the electorate ahead of the next phase of the state’s political development.
