Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has denied claims that incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke bought him a car.

Oyinlola made the clarification on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The former governor explained that the provision of vehicles for former governors was backed by a law enacted by the Osun State House of Assembly.

He said the law provides that former governors are entitled to have their official vehicles replaced every four years, stressing that the benefit was provided by the state government and was not a personal gesture from Adeleke.

“That is far from the truth, and it is a sad development that a governor will continue to tell lies.

“The Osun State House of Assembly enacted a law whereby some benefits will accrue to whosoever has governed the state.

“One of the things that is accrued to a former governor is that for every four years, his vehicle should be changed. It wasn’t Adeleke that gave me a car but Osun State government. It is a law,” Oyinlola said.

Oyinlola, who has been out of office for 16 years, noted that the statutory provision meant the state government had replaced his vehicle periodically in accordance with the law.
