Adeleke faces criticism on X after raising alarm over alleged violence ahead of Osun poll

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has come under criticism from some social media users after raising concerns over alleged violence against his supporters ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

 

Adeleke had, during a campaign rally in Osogbo on Monday, alleged that extrajudicial killings were taking place in the state and appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a peaceful and credible election.

 

The governor, who shared a video of the rally on his verified X account, said the people of Osun would not accept electoral malpractice and urged the President to intervene.

 

Following the post, several X users reacted in the comment section, with some criticising the governor over his political decisions and questioning his appeal to the President.

 

One user, @OlanFab, wrote that Adeleke should “face your fate alone,” arguing that the governor had previously aligned himself with President Tinubu instead of joining the opposition.

 

Another user, @yinka_george, advised the governor to remain vigilant ahead of the election, alleging that his political opponents were determined to win the poll.

 

@LanrexAfeez criticised Adeleke’s handling of security matters in the state, while @SolomonPhi46310 suggested that the governor should work with other opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general election.

 

Another commenter, @OluwasegunAgbo7, questioned the governor’s appeal to the President, arguing that, as the state’s Chief Security Officer, he should ensure a credible electoral process.
