2027: Oyo APC Governorship Candidate Appoints Campaign Leadership Team

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has approved key appointments into his campaign organisation as part of preparations for the 2027 governorship election.

The appointments, announced on Thursday in a statement issued in Ibadan, follow the earlier appointment of Chief Yemi Aderibigbe as Director-General of the campaign organisation.

Under the new structure, Hon. Sola Ogunbode was named Deputy Director-General, while Barrister Lowo Obisesan, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape and Hon. Rasaq Raji were appointed Assistant Directors-General for Oyo South, Oyo Central and Oyo North senatorial districts, respectively.

According to the statement, the appointments are aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation, improving coordination across the state’s three senatorial districts and enhancing the campaign’s readiness ahead of the 2027 poll.

Alli expressed confidence in the ability of the appointees to contribute to the party’s electoral success, citing their political experience, leadership qualities and commitment to the APC.

“This campaign will be all-inclusive. No one will be left behind. Every ward, every local government and every interest group within our party has a role to play in this project,” he said.

“We are one APC family. The task ahead is huge, but with unity of purpose, we will achieve it together.”

The statement highlighted the credentials of the appointees. Rasaq Raji, from Igbeti in Olorunsogo Local Government Area, is described as a grassroots politician and APC chieftain.

Asimiyu Alarape, a metallurgical engineering graduate, previously served as Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003, Minority Leader from 2019 to 2023, and Special Adviser during the administration of late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Lowo Obisesan, a lawyer and Ibadan senior chief, served as Commissioner for Environment under the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi and is the founder of Black & White Law Chamber.
