Macron To Visit Nigeria For State Visit This Fall

French President Emmanuel Macron will undertake a State visit to Nigeria later this year to strengthen bilateral relations and review the growing partnership between both countries.

French Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Marc Fonbaustier, announced the visit during France’s National Day celebration in Abuja, describing it as an opportunity for Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Bola Tinubu to assess progress on existing agreements and outline future areas of cooperation.

The ambassador said the visit comes two years after President Tinubu’s State visit to Paris and reflects the commitment of both nations to deepen diplomatic, economic and security ties.

Fonbaustier said Nigeria and France share common goals, including economic development, job creation, food security, environmental protection and the fight against terrorism.

He highlighted growing business partnerships between companies from both countries and ongoing collaboration in agriculture through the French Development Agency to strengthen food security and agricultural value chains.

The envoy also reaffirmed France’s commitment to working with Nigeria and ECOWAS to tackle regional security challenges, stressing that a strong Nigeria is vital to the stability of West Africa.
