Although details of the meeting were not immediately available, it comes amid growing tensions within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the party’s Benue Central Senatorial ticket.
Suswam, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, had emerged as the winner of the party’s Benue Central senatorial primary. However, the result was later overturned by the party’s appeal committee.
The meeting is also taking place against the backdrop of an internal power struggle within the Benue APC, with Governor Alia and supporters of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, contesting for control of the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While it has not been officially confirmed whether the Benue political crisis is the focus of the meeting, its timing has fuelled speculation that the Presidency is seeking to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders and strengthen unity within the ruling party in the state.
The Presidency had not issued an official statement on the outcome of the meeting as of the time of filing this report.
