Kwara approves cash backing for 2025 TESCOM promotions

The Kwara State Government has approved cash backing for the 2025 promotion exercise for eligible teaching and non-teaching staff of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), paving the way for the implementation of promotion benefits.

The approval, granted by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by TESCOM Press Secretary, Bola Onile.

According to the statement, the decision reflects the administration’s commitment to the welfare, motivation and career advancement of workers, particularly personnel under the Teaching Service Commission.

Reacting to the development, TESCOM Executive Chairman, Bello Abubakar, commended the governor for his continued support for the education sector and the welfare of teachers and other staff.

“The approval is yet another demonstration of His Excellency’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and ensuring that deserving officers enjoy the benefits of their promotions as and when due,” Abubakar said.

He also noted that the current administration inherited outstanding promotion arrears covering 2015 to 2020 and has since approved both the promotion exercises and the cash backing for promotions spanning 2015 to 2025.

“When His Excellency came into office, there were backlogs of unapproved promotion arrears from 2015 to 2020. He approved the conduct of the promotion exercises and the cash backing for the promotions from 2015 to 2025, making him the only governor in the history of the state to do so,” he added.

Abubakar said the commission would immediately begin the administrative processes required to implement the approved promotion benefits in line with government procedures.

He urged teachers and other staff to remain dedicated, disciplined and committed to their duties, assuring them that the administration would continue to reward diligence, professionalism and excellence in service.

He also reaffirmed TESCOM’s commitment to fairness, transparency and efficiency in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
