According to reports, Nnaji was taken into custody on Wednesday and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
The anti-graft agency had been investigating the former minister over allegations that he forged his academic certificates.
Nnaji had reportedly been on the ICPC’s watchlist since resigning from office in October 2025.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Nnaji as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology on August 16, 2023.
He resigned from the cabinet on October 7, 2025, following allegations that he forged his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials.
The ICPC has yet to issue an official statement on the reported arrest or the status of its investigation.
