ADC TO OYEBAMIJI: STOP ‘AGENDA THEFT’, PREPARE SUPPLEMENTARY MANIFESTO

The African Democratic Congress Governorship Campaign Council, ADC-GCC, in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, of attempting to appropriate the party’s energy policy proposal, urging him to prepare a supplementary manifesto instead of “stealing” ideas already associated with the ADC.

The ADC campaign council said Oyebamiji allegedly suspended plans to unveil a Strategic Energy Agenda after the party drew public attention to what it described as an attempt to copy its energy programme.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Hon. Nurein Adebisi, the ADC-GCC said Oyebamiji’s manifesto, unveiled on May 1, 2026 and tagged PROSPER, did not list power generation or energy as a key policy priority.

Adebisi said the APC candidate only moved to introduce an energy agenda after the ADC’s proposal began to gain public acceptance across the state.

“It has come to our notice that following our notification to the public on Osun APC governorship candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji’s plan to unveil what he called a Strategic Energy Agenda, which we referred to as corporate agenda theft, he has decided to put it off,” Adebisi said.

He added that the public should take note that the APC candidate’s manifesto did not contain any clear energy or power-generation blueprint.

“Upon realising that this vital Osun ADC agenda is gaining popular acceptance and commendation, he hurriedly put up a plan to unveil a programme that was never part of his agenda,” he said.

The ADC spokesperson, however, said the party welcomed the alleged decision by Oyebamiji to suspend the planned unveiling, describing it as a step away from what he termed an attempt to “hatch eggs he did not lay.”

According to him, Oyebamiji should instead review his manifesto and present a supplementary document containing an independent and clearly defined vision for Osun State.

“We advise Mr. Oyebamiji to settle down, critically review and prepare a supplementary manifesto that reflects a distinct vision for the future of the state rather than labouring to patch his AI-generated manifesto, PROSPER,” Adebisi said.

“This will make him look a bit serious and prepared.”

Adebisi maintained that elections are not won by merely echoing popular proposals but by presenting originality, competence and a credible roadmap for governance.

He said Osun people deserved a contest of ideas, adding that a supplementary manifesto would give the APC candidate an opportunity to present fresh solutions to the state’s economic, educational, healthcare and infrastructural challenges.

“The electorate will be more persuaded by a comprehensive and visionary policy document than by attempts to repackage a programme already associated with the ADC and consistently echoed by Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam at every point of our campaign activities,” he added.

The ADC-GCC spokesperson said Osun voters were demanding authenticity, clarity and a genuine commitment to sustainable development ahead of the governorship election.
