The party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, who signed the statement, said the killing represented “the highest level of wickedness,” stressing that no reason could justify the cutting short of the life of a promising teenager.
Olabisi called on the Osun State Police Command to urgently investigate the incident and ensure that all those directly or indirectly linked to the alleged extra-judicial killing were identified and brought to justice.
According to him, the APC was deeply saddened by the development and commiserated with the parents of the deceased as well as the entire Ilobu community over the tragic loss.
He said: “It was the display of the highest level of an act of wickedness for anyone to have resulted to cutting short the life of such a promising teenager for any reason.”
The APC spokesman also warned individuals allegedly using political cover to perpetrate violence against innocent residents of the state to desist, saying violence was not part of the ideals of the party or its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
Olabisi maintained that Oyebamiji does not believe in violence and would neither sponsor nor encourage violence against any individual or group.
He added that the governorship candidate believed that no political ambition was worth the blood of any citizen.
The party, however, urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to discharge his constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property, rather than politicising issues of security in the state.
It also commended its members and supporters for maintaining peace amid what it described as provocation, urging them not to waiver in the interest of peace and stability in Osun State.
