In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election.
Tinubu praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the exercise and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to build on the successful conduct of the poll ahead of the Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
The President noted that Oyebanji had become the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to win two consecutive terms through re-election.
According to Tinubu, the governor’s first term witnessed notable progress in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth employment and rural development under the BAO Agenda, adding that the renewed mandate reflects the electorate’s confidence in continuity and people-centred governance.
He urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory, carry all stakeholders along and consolidate on the achievements of his first term.
Tinubu also commended other candidates who participated in the election and called on them to support the governor in the interest of the state’s development.
INEC had declared Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election after polling 319,224 votes, defeating Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 40,533 votes, and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who polled 12,872 votes.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy under the Renewed Hope Agenda and prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for the governor.
