Osun 2026: Salaam Vows to End Years of Neglect, Targets Ife-Ifetedo Border Road for Major Overhaul

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Salaam, has pledged to rehabilitate the long-neglected Ife–Ifetedo–Ondo State Border Road, describing its current condition as unacceptable and a major setback to economic activities in the area.

Salaam made the promise on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olubosin of Ifetedo, where he outlined his vision for rural development and agricultural transformation across the state.

Speaking during the visit, the ADC flagbearer lamented the deplorable state of the road, stressing that its rehabilitation would rank among his administration’s priorities if elected governor.

“On our way to Ifetedo, I personally witnessed the terrible condition of the road leading into this community. By the grace of God, when we assume office, we will work closely with the Federal Government to ensure the complete rehabilitation of the road,” he said.

According to him, restoring the road would significantly boost agricultural production, ease transportation challenges, and improve access to markets for farmers in the area.

Salaam further pledged robust support for farmers through the provision of improved seedlings, modern farm tools, and mechanized farming equipment.

“We will support our farmers with quality seedlings and farm implements. In addition, we plan to provide two tractors in each local government area to enhance agricultural productivity and create more economic opportunities for our people,” he added.

The ADC candidate also promised to strengthen security and development efforts in border communities through active collaboration with traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders.

He emphasized that traditional institutions would play a key role in his administration’s drive to promote grassroots development, improve security, and ensure inclusive governance across Osun State.

The visit formed part of Salaam’s consultations with stakeholders and traditional rulers ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
